Snowman and me

For her 6th birthday cake, Teagan wanted a snowman (with candy cane in it's hat) and herself with it. The round tier is a 8 inch vanilla cake with buttercream icing. The snowman is also cake with buttercream and fondant. The snow on the top of the cake is made from cake scraps mixed with icing to make a sculpting paste -- the covered in fondant. I have to say it worked very well. Teagan is made from modelling chocolate and the rest of the decor is fondant.

Two tiered cake with 7 inch and 5 inch chocolate and vanilla layered cake. Covered in buttercream and fondant decorations. The Kitty is made from gum paste.



A whole new world

A 6 inch round chocolate cake with buttercream and blue fondant. The characters are made from modelling chocolate and fondant. The carpet is gumpaste with a printed, edible paper, printout attached. This was the first time I used a "skinner" blend in fondant and it even worked! It was used for the sunset gradation. The cityscape is cut out of fondant.


Birds in the garden

Natalya wanted a bird cake this year for her birthday, so I thought it'd be nice to have five birds (since she'll be 5) and have the setting be a summer garden with flowers and a bird house. These are a few of her favourite birds. The bottom tier is a 10 inch round covered in buttercream, and the bird house is a 6 inch round covered with fondant. The birds are made from rice cereal and fondant. Many firsts for me on this cake, including having part of the cake on a riser.


Paint ball party

A 7 inch, gluten free chocolate cake with buttercream icing. A last minute cake so the decor had to be simple. The paint splats were piped on with royal icing.


Ready to make some music

A replica of one of Andrew's favourite toys for his birthday cake. A 15 inch cookies and cream cake covered with fondant. All the decorations are made from fondant. The "wooden" ends are made from rice ceral, covered with fondant and pianted to simulate wood grain. The little 3 inch round cake is made from the cake leftovers and includes a sugar rose.
