Happy Birthday Teagan!
December 31, 2011

Celebrating a New Year's Eve with a Strawberry Shortcake birthday party. The bottom tier and large strawberry are made from cake and covered with buttercream and fondant. The small strawberrries and leaves are made from fondant, and the figure, kitty, blossoms and label are made from gum paste. My first real figure from gum paste, and I was very happy with the result.

For a princess party
November 11, 2011

Made for Rachel's 5th birthday, this cake is chocolate on the bottom tier and vanilla on the top. It has 7 Disney princesses on it, all made from fondant, brushed with petal dust to help create some depth. The crown is made from gumpaste. This cake a lot of new techniques that I tried for the first time.

All her favourite things
October 1, 2011

A birthday cake for a little girl's first birthday, with all her favourite toys -- bunny being top of the list. All the decorations are made from fondant, except for the bunny which is made from gumpaste. The bottom tier is taken from Hayley's favourite cart and all the toys are drawn from her toys. 8 inch square and 7 inch round.

Along with the above cake, a gluten free cake was made for the party. The design was left up to Kelly and Daniella. 6 inch round

Chocolate for Melissa
October 1, 2011

Something simple and elegant for a new mom on her birthday. Chocolate cake and filling with buttercream icing. The roses are made from fondant and the 3 birds sculpted from chocolate candy melts. 6 inch square.

Laugh more and dream big
September 27, 2011

My first attempt at covering a cake with ganache. Think I need some practice. But decoarting was lots of fun with flinging various colours of icing at the cake. 6 inch round.

Cat in the Hat
June 24, 2011

A tower of cake with many flavours. The cake is covered in fondant, and the red stripes are painted with food colouring. The teapot and fish have a rice ceral core and are covered with gumpaste and fondant. It was lots of fun creating the whimsy of Dr Seus for a special little girl.

Totoro
June 25, 2011

My second sculpted figure from cake, but the first time using fondant to cover it. The umbrella is fully edible (except the dowel rod) and made from gumpaste. The cupcakes have the faces, made from fondant, of other characters from the show.

First birthday
April 21, 2011

Another try at using just buttercream instead of fondant for the outside of the cake. Also the first try with exposed buttercream edges. Only the decorations are fondant. The design of the animals were taken from Andrew's favourite toy animals. Happy Birthday Andrew!

A cake for myself
March 15th 2011

Making this cake gave me the opportunity to try some new cake, filling and icing recipes. I also got to practice some techniques to use on future cakes. I was very happy how smooth I could get the buttercream on the outside of the cake. Only the decorations are fondant this time.
