Natalya asked for an Undertale themed cake, this year, which was quite the challenge. I had never heard of, nor seen, this video game which I was surprised to see had very basic, pixelated graphics. Natalya did a sketch, for me, of a rough design which I incorporated into the top tier. I chose one of the games' levels for the bottom tier and used a brick impression pattern on both tiers since many of the games' environments had brick walls in them. The characters were edible printouts put on fondant and then cut out. The figure on the top and all decorations were made from fondant. The cake had a 6 inch round bottom tier and 5 inch round top tier.

The 3 tiers (7, 5, 3 inch rounds) are chocolate and vanilla, iced with buttercream. Decorations are made from gumpaste, fondant and modelling chocolate. The little fairies are based on Emily's fairy costume, along with her red hair. Thanks to Mary (Emily's Mom) for all the baking and help with assembly.

Usually it's a Black Forest Birthday cake, but this year it's Black Forest cupcakes. Plain chocolate, with no cherries, for those who prefer not to have them, but they don't know what they'll be missing. . Yum, yum, yummy.
