Winter Camping
December 31, 2015

It's winter camping this year for Teagan's 8th birthday cake. She wanted her favourite dolls (Our Generation) to go camping in their colourful tent. Olaf came along, last minute, to join them. The base and tent are cake and the decorations and figures are made from fondant and/or gumpaste. (Thanks to Kelly for all her help on this one)

Rachel's rocket
November 11, 2015

Rachel, wanted a Rockets Candy cake for her 9th birthday. It's her favourite candy. So she got a 20 inch rocket. The cake was a combination of chocolate and vanilla cake "candies". I replaced the word "rocket" with her name and even put the cake on a large number nine. The three loose candies (four inch diameter) are made from rice cereal and covered with fondant. Candy anyone?

A pool party for Jan
July 18, 2015

A last minute cake to celebrate Jan's birthday, with a pool party at Chris's new pool. With only three days to put this together I kept the decoration to simple objects. Jan's idea was to have the cake be the shape of the pool and to put sprinkles on the sides. it was a big hit at the party.

Chocolate for Elena
July 12, 2015

We've started a tradition of celebrating our birthdays within a group of my friends. I've been making my traditional black forest cake each year and for the past 3 they've been enjoying it. So this year Peni wanted a black forest cake and then Elena wanted one as well. Each time I try to change/add something to it. This time I wanted it to look more like a traditional black forest. However, my stablized whip cream didn't work out so I used buttercream on the top instead. The cake hade several different chocolate frostings, some modelling chocolate and home made choclate half-disc shapes.

My Little Pony
June 24, 2015

It's a "My Little Pony" birthday cake for Natalya. Natalya's favourite pony, Rainbow Dash, is on the top of the cake and her next 3 favs are around the sides. The cake is a 7 inch round, with a 3 inch round on top, with buttercream icing. The decorations are made from fondant and gum paste.

March 15, 2015

6 inch black forest cake.

10 Little Ladybugs
February 9, 2015

This cake for Elliot's first birthday. It's based on his favourite book - 10 Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth. I had so much fun making this cake and just loved using petal dusts (dry and wet) for painting the figures.  The side panels are painted gumpaste shapes of the figures which were then applied to the cake. The leaves and remaining elements are painted gumpaste/fondant. 8 inch round cake. I made all the elements ahead of time and Mary assembled the cake.
